RemotePeople review: Employer of Record in New Zealand

The lowest published EOR rate in New Zealand, delivered through a New Zealand limited company that RemotePeople owns outright. We checked the entity on the Companies Register, then tested the Holidays Act, KiwiSaver, ACC, payday filing and onboarding claims against the same eight criteria we apply to every provider.

Our verdict

Best value EOR in New Zealand, with the entity question already answered.

RemotePeople publishes the lowest headline rate of any provider we rank and employs through its own New Zealand limited company rather than a partner, which is the single most important thing to check before signing. Recruitment, payroll for your own entity and incorporation sit alongside the EOR service, so a company can go from one hire to a local subsidiary without changing vendor, and the New Zealand guide on its site is written by a New Zealand-qualified lawyer on its regulatory team. Where it trails Deel is tooling: fewer native HRIS and expense integrations and a smaller app ecosystem. Independent ratings are strong: G2 4.7 from 454 reviews, Capterra 4.9 from 72, Trustpilot 4.4 from 157.

Choose RemotePeople if you are hiring one to twenty people in New Zealand, want a named account manager, and expect to incorporate locally within two years. Look elsewhere if your payroll must sync natively into a specific HRIS today, or you need a provider with a staffed New Zealand office you can walk into.

Who actually employs your staff: a New Zealand limited company RemotePeople owns

This is where most EOR comparisons go wrong, so we start here. RemotePeople employs New Zealand staff through a locally incorporated New Zealand limited company, not through an overseas company registered to carry on business here and not through a third-party partner. The company was incorporated on 16 January 2023, is 100% owned by RemotePeople's Singapore group company, and its annual return was filed in October 2025. Its NZBN is 9429051023157 and its company number is 8557030.

Two things to know before you search the register. The company is registered under the group's legal name, not the RemotePeople brand that was adopted in February 2026, so search by NZBN rather than by name. And the registered office is an accounting firm's address in central Auckland, which is normal for a foreign-owned subsidiary but means RemotePeople does not publish a staffed New Zealand office of its own.

Strengths
  • Employs through its own New Zealand limited company, NZBN 9429051023157, with ownership visible on the register
  • Lowest published rate of the ten, from US$199 per employee per month, with global payroll for your own entity from US$25
  • Published onboarding timeline, including the Accredited Employer Work Visa path
  • Recruitment (20% of salary), entity incorporation and legal support under the same roof
  • Strong independent ratings across G2, Capterra and Trustpilot
  • 150+ countries, so the same contract covers hires beyond New Zealand
Watch for
  • The NZ company is registered under the group's legal name, not the RemotePeople brand: search the register by NZBN
  • No New Zealand-resident director on the register and no staffed NZ office published; the registered office is an accountant's address
  • RemotePeople states it is an Immigration New Zealand accredited employer; it does not appear on INZ's public list, which employers can opt out of. Ask for the accreditation number
  • The US$199 tier applies to selected countries and salary ranges; the NZ page does not say whether NZ qualifies. Get the NZ rate in writing
  • Priced in US dollars: budget for FX movement on the platform fee
  • Fewer native integrations than Deel or Rippling

FAQ

Common questions about RemotePeople in New Zealand

Does RemotePeople employ staff through its own New Zealand company?
Yes. The employment agreement is signed by a New Zealand limited company incorporated on 16 January 2023 and listed on the Companies Register under NZBN 9429051023157 (company number 8557030). RemotePeople's Singapore group company holds 100% of its shares. It is registered under the group's legal name rather than the RemotePeople brand, so search by NZBN.
Can RemotePeople sponsor an Accredited Employer Work Visa?
RemotePeople states that it is an Immigration New Zealand accredited employer and that it runs the Job Check and AEWV lodgement through its NZ entity, with a 3–6 week timeline. Its NZBN does not return a result on INZ's public accredited employer list, which some employers opt out of, so ask for the accreditation number before relying on it.
Is the US$199 fee really the total?
No. It is the platform fee on the Select tier, which applies to selected countries and salary ranges. Salary, the 3.5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and ACC levies are passed through at cost on top, and deposits or setup fees are confirmed in the proposal. The worked example above shows a typical month.
How does it compare with Deel for a small New Zealand team?
For one to twenty hires RemotePeople is cheaper and offers a named account manager. Deel wins on integrations and on breadth if you are hiring in many countries at once.
